On Wednesday, January 11th, ULI Minnesota convened a forum in the St. Louis Park City Hall Council Chambers to share how the prospect of light rail transit (LRT) catalyzed corridor-wide collaboration among Hennepin County and the five cities with stations along the proposed route. This resulted in a shared housing strategy, an investment framework, and the development of innovative financial tools and policies that are producing dense, walkable, mixed-use and mixed-income developments throughout the corridor. ULI Minnesota was proud to contribute to these efforts over the last several years through its work with Southwest LRT Community Works and its Advisory Services programs including Navigating Your Competitive Future workshops in each community and two Technical Assistance Panels that delved deeply into site-specific challenges and opportunities.
The event was moderated by ULI Minnesota Chair Pat Mascia of Briggs and Morgan and featured the following panelists:
Commissioner, Hennepin County District 6
Chair, Hennepin County Board
Chair, Southwest LRT Corridor Community Works Steering Committee
Principal City Planner, Long Range Planning Division, City of Minneapolis
Principal Planner, City of St. Louis Park
Director, Economic Development and Planning, City of Hopkins
